Business History
Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom has been in business since 1953. It is the premiere pet grooming business in New Jersey. We are one of the only shops specializing in hand scissoring and individual blow drying and fluffing. Ruthann Clark and J. Albert Migliori acquired the business in 1975 at its present location in East Orange. After purchasing the building, several renovations and expansions, they tripled the original size and upgraded it to a full line pet shop in addition to the original pet grooming services. Animal Kingdom expanded to South Orange in 1989. This location provides dog and cat grooming as well as pet daycare.
In May 1995, the East Orange store was destroyed by fire. Ruthann and Albert were determined to rebuild in the same location. Animal Kingdom opened a temporary retail location in East Orange while all grooming was being done at the South Orange location. The reconstruction of the East Orange store was completed in less than 9 months and we moved back home.
Our East Orange location provides an extensive selection of Tropical fish, Exotic birds, reptiles, small animals, pet products, dog and cat foods as well as expert dog and cat grooming. We also provide pet boarding and sitting on a limited basis. Any special orders are welcome at no additional charge!
Animal Kingdom's expert pet groomers have all been individually trained at our locations and have a combined 80 years of experience grooming a wide variety of dog and cat breeds. Our retail staff has been with us for an average of 12 years and boasts a combined experience of over 125 years in the industry. We are the experts in Tropical and Cold water fish.
